Did you know that there are approximately 730,000 unfilled tech jobs, but 55% of high schools do not offer computer science? This gap is an equity issue and a workforce development challenge. It is also an opportunity where employee volunteers can help be part of the solution!
Join us on October 28 for a special Solutions Hour with Microsoft TEALS (Technology Education and Literacy in Schools) to learn how volunteers from your company or organization can get involved. TEALS connects technical volunteers with high schools to team-teach computer science alongside classroom teachers. TEALS is organized by Microsoft Philanthropies and welcomes professionals from a wide variety of industries and companies to participate. Coxe Curry & Associates Senior Consultant and special friend of the CVC, Ann Cramer, will welcome guests and introduce Tracey Wilson, Southeast Regional Manager for TEALS. Tracey will moderate a discussion with TEALS Volunteers, Addison Thomas (VMware) and Chris Kazenske (Delta Air Lines) as well as Theresa Yarbough (Lovejoy High School).
If your company is currently exploring skills-based volunteering or looking for new ways to positively improve equity in Metro Atlanta, you will not want to miss this conversation! Please feel free to share this opportunity with colleagues. We look forward to your participation.
